I eye the same moon you see where you are
Hidden beneath the celestial gleam
I ponder at times if I may enter your dreams

Imagine what it would be like to lay in my arms

I LOST YOU IN THE RAIN
The rain pouring down in sheets
I lost clarity in the vision of you
Once the clouds encroached
Gone the skies of blue
I lost you in the rain
You, I could no longer see
That day we did depart
I regained a part of me
Winds blew you away that day
In the cyclonic aftermath
Destruction could be viewed
Yet, for me, it cleared a path
The rains left stagnant pools
Memories still retained
Letting go of the tainted past
A new life I in turn regained
Now a rainbow of hope
A promise of new tomorrows
No more tears shall I shed
Lost in the rain of sorrows…

THE BEST OF ME, BECAUSE OF YOU
You taught me how to love
You had great faith in me
The times I stumbled and fell
You still had pride in me
You were there to listen
You always had love to give
Times when I hurt you, Daddy
You would always readily forgive
You told me to be strong a woman
Strive to be the best I could be
That there’s hope in tomorrow
Lifting the cloud so I could see
My future was secure
I have a fate and destiny
I can be my best critic
Stop being my worst enemy
Your advice was always sound
No longer falling on deaf ears
You were my biggest fan
You would wipe away my tears
Daddy are you watching me
Have you seen what I’ve become
A woman who loves laughter
Who adores the kiss of the sun
You will always be my hero
I want to emulate you
You were godly man with integrity
You are among the chosen few
The best of me…is because of you!

As you journey on, and sail through life
Remember the insight, you have gained
Lessons were learned along the way
Some filled with joy, some riddled with pain
When it seemed like your cup as half empty
You neglected to realize; it was half full
Your mindset should focus on the positive
Past regrets, you should not ruminate and mull
Winding, is the journey to your destination
You may lose your footing, falter, and fall
The perils may seem more than you can handle
Trust in God, he will be there for you, when you call
When you think your ship may be sinking
No one to bail you out, surely you will drown
Your ship will rise from the wreckage
There is nothing, that can keep you down
Sail on my friend, and look to the horizon
A glorious new day, is within your reach
Respect the life that you have been given
Along the way… others you can help and teach…

She was never good enough
She strived hard to be perfect
Perfection alluded her
Imperfections festered
Beneath a murky surface
Never the ideal weight
Too thin, too fat
Never comfortable in her skin
Chic wardrobe, warped view
She was no Barbie…where was her Ken
Years of self-degradation
With maturity, she evolved
Accepting self-embracement
Loving her marred self
Despite her flaws
She passed a mirror…stopped, and peered…
Hello beautiful me
Where have you been
Years have been wasted
Yet, you survived
Amidst the loathing clamor
You finally relax
Grasping the reality
That perfection is extinct
And you are a survivor
Of a tainted society
Hello me…You are strong…You are beautiful…You are near perfection

If We Only Had Wings
Have you ever thought about, what it would be like to fly
To escape life’s gallows, and take off to the sky
The moment…that you would outstretch your arms, they would turn to wings
Into the atmosphere you would soar, a new dimension it would bring
To the heights you would soar, into the billowing clouds
A new thrill it would give you…you would want to sing out loud
For now, you have reached beyond the heights of birds
You have reached a level, that man has not attained…that was unheard
Closer to the celestial heavens, you soon will fly and reach
Is there a certain spirituality, that you’ll see…will you breach?
Look closely, do you see Angelical beings around you
Do they dance in the air, as they inquisitively surround you
Will you be able to fly up, and gaze at Heaven’s Gate
Will they be able to accept you, or simply contemplate
It’s a wondrous thing…to think if only we could fly
For a glimpse of heaven…if for only a moment we could spy
