Daily Selected Poems: Madhuri Kulkarni

My train journey

.
As I entered the railway platform…
As usual, I could see a sea of people…
Eagerly waiting to board their train…
Travelling is my passion…
I love visiting places,
Meeting different people..
Learning different cultures…
As I boarded and sat at the window seat…
I could see hawkers yelling to sell their wares..
The hustle and bustle reminded me of my childhood…
Fighting with siblings for the window seat…
Watching trees and people passing by…
Enjoying the snacks and pestering Amma..
For the biscuits or bhelpuri sold on train..
Many a times she turned deaf ears…
Once in a while letting us indulge..
This train journey kindles something
More than those memories…
I have always felt I am an engine…
And family, friends, relatives.. the bogies…
Trudging along the tracks of..
Hardships and happiness…
The crossings help me change the
Direction of my thoughts…
As and when a station arrives…
One by one the bogies get detached…
I move along steadily…
And arrive at the destination…
Free of all bondages…
.
