Give me any kind of reading matter
The thicker it is, the better
You won’t notice, but the truth is
The beating of my heart will race.
I’ll lookout for a nice place to huddle
Where every page I could devour
I would never notice the hours
I’ll be awake all through the night.
The nectar of each sentence I’ll savor
My lips will pucker at lines that are sour
Cry and sob with the wounded hero
Curse the villain with much gusto
I will guffaw at each zany chatter
I’ll moan in ecstasy with the lovers
Fly to exotic places with each chapter
Experience the climax, be it bliss or fear.
And after turning the last page
I’ll be swimming in its aftertaste
It will remain in my tongue for days
Till another book, I’ll start to read

Spring is akin to the dawn and morning
When all around is fresh and greener
To a man, it is the age of innocence
When life is filled with fun and games.
The heat of noon is the summer
Not a time for naps and slumber
When a man develops all his potentials
To confidently dance the next stage’s waltz.
Autumn is the late afternoon till twilight
The heat has mellowed, so is man’s delight
His strength is waning like the sun’s
Pray he’d spent his summer like the ants.
In the cold and darkness of evening
The storms, the freeze and fear that winter brings
Man’s tight grasp on life is fast slipping
All that remains are echoes of past dreams.

Did you know that the bamboo
Belongs to the grass family?
Why this is such I’ll never know
When we all see it as a tree
Tall, straight and sturdy.
Grass or tree does not matter
Coz this is one great Nature’s gift
To a world where humility is obsolete
In humbleness a true model it is
High and mighty yet remains grounded.
When the wind passes by, it whispers hello
Bows its leafy head, respect to show
To the power of a gale, it sways with grace
Strong and pliant, it never breaks
A display of endurance that men forget.
A lowly grass it is but in usefulness
Its neighbors can’t underestimate
For whatever use these mighty trees offer
As good lumber or even timber
It does the same and at times better.
