Daily Selected Poems: Rajashree Mohapatra

Rajashree Mohapatra

She

.
Rajshree Mohapatra
She will rise from the ashes
from the faded colors of the desert flowers
She will be back this time as she did before
She will touch her dreams
hanging in between the leaves
of tangled branches of wild trees where moon is trapped still
So far •••
In utter silence
She has sprinkled nectar on you in her womb,
She has worn a smile on her parched lips for you.
How can you forget
the hands that cared for you so far
Don’t call her a stream, flowing with waves of sin
She has clung you to her soft body
with love from time immemorial
She understands well •••
Your hunger, hidden in the dark chambers
Your thirst, of burning fire!
Your pain, of your existence
and the reason behind your survival
You don’t know
She will never perish,
But will survive like an immortal vine
She will continue to smile like the tender leaves
She will stretch herself to touch the sky
to paint her dreams
and will shine forever like a star in
Akash Ganga to remind you
There is no safe home for you
other than her womb
O! Woman’s child, don’t you know
you are born unto the ambrosia of heaven
So sprinkle it upon yourself
and be the eternal Man!
