Poetry by Kamrun Nahar

The destiny of a poet

Licking the feet of a merchant or a middleman
be so common today for a poet.
Because in this age of marketing
It is tough to live a poetic life.

Literature may not be judged by money.
But livelihood cannot be compromised.

A poet gradually starts behaving like a product.
The merchant class showed a satirical smile.
And continue expressing how strong they are!

Humanity trembling with fear to see the brutality.
Philosophy and ethics now belong to fairytale.
Pervert mentality has slowly captured the neuron cell.
Instruments and gadgets have taken the place of free thinking.
Humans become robotic and gradually lose their empathy.

Still some poets live in a utopian world.
With some unequivocal dreams.
They strongly fight to survive.
Until they fulfill their aspiration.

Maybe this is the destiny of a poet.
And who can deny the destiny!
