Poetry for Peace: Obuchere James

ROCKETS AND TEARS

Rockets rock the Gaza strip
Wailings are heard in Jerusalem
In the skies fighter jets zoom
No peace here; no one can sleep.

Billowing smoke rises high
Like a thick cloud; darkening the sky
Innocent women and children cry
Many are wounded and left to die.

What, pray, causes this friction
Between Israel and Palestine?
It all beats me; I just don’t know
What precipitates this terrible war.

In the streets thick blood flows
Crimson red; torrential rivers
Which calls for global intervention
A ceasefire and peace restoration.
