Contemplations Of A Setting Sun

Did I shine bright enough for the moon?
To illumine the night with my reflection.
Had the hues I painted the skies with, adequate?
For the still lakes to mirror, emulate.
How will the sound of my voice echo?
Will it resound with anger, joy or sorrow?
How many times had I coached a rainbow?
To reaffirm hope and heaven’s vow anew.
Was my warmth sufficient for the greens
To sprout, bloom, bear fruits, then ripen?
Was I able to unfreeze rivers frozen?
Rouse them to life in gleeful explosion.
Had I drained the gentle brooks and streams?
And left them clamouring for the onset of rain.
Had I scorched the rolling fertile plains?
Cracked its face like huge rocks broken.
Had my fiery gaze wakened a tempest?
That wrecked unforgivable damages.
Would God smile at me tonight in my dreams?
Or chastise me till I eclipse in shame.

The Monarch And The Rose

A Monarch whispered to a yellow Rose
“Golden Princess, would you be my muse?”
Hovering over her, he bowed and posed
Gazing at the Rose, who looked amused
Eager for her response, flapping wings paused.
Blushing radiant, the petite bloom mused
“I would, but Alas! you are just huge
My petals are too delicate for your paws
My stems are too fragile to hold your claws
Your weight could crush me, I’ll be lost.”
Mr. Monarch replied, “Oh, I’m sorry
I didn’t notice how you are so dainty
Your beauty and fragrance must have blinded me
But I’ll wait for you to grow strong someday
I’ll come back for you, you’re now my fiancée.”
“Your Majesty”, the golden blossom quipped
“To be your queen, I don’t think I’m equipped
I wouldn’t pledge what I couldn’t keep
To a bumblebee, my nectar I’ve promised
Our short lifespans let us not put to waste.”
