THE SETTING SUN AND ME
All of a sudden, the sun is setting
I never noticed where the day has gone
A big slice of it dissolved to nothing
Can’t even recall all things I have done.
My petals wilted in the heat of day
The colors have faded, its brilliance waned
Even my stems where my energy lay
Turned dry and brittle, won’t withstand the wind.
Twilight is here, soon it will be evening
Today will be tomorrow’s yesterday
Will I still witness the new day dawning?
Or will forever sleep here where I lay.
Ah setting sun, please stay still for a while
In this journey, my aim is still a mile.
I thank the Lord for gifting me
With a colorful eloquence
In vivid shades and vibrant tones
Tinged with a subtle melody.
It has the sheen and shimmer of the sun
That makes the flowers bloom
Tinctured with the soft shower of rain
That saturates all our pains.
Pigments of the thunder’s undertone
That commands the earth’s attention
The brilliance of the lightning
Wrath of angels awakening.
Stained with a mother’s gentle touch
Turns a baby’s tantrum to hush-hush
Dyed with a caring fatherly advise
An adolescent’s rebellious thoughts demise.
God also blessed it with scents
A pungency and a nice fragrance
Enhanced with a chrome of tastes
Of sour lemon, bitter gourd and sweet grapes.
