A nation steeped in differential narrative and
Caught in the perilous cross currents of,
Divergent philosophies, emotions, religions, and politics,
Could not have survived and thrived in this long race,
If we, her citizens, haven’t put our hearts in the right place.
And that is to value our hard-earned independence,
Our right to live, eat, pray, love, and work,
In our very own jurisprudence.
Once we had been subjugated,
And our voice was relegated to the background.
Our basic rights were mercilessly crushed,
By the divisive politics of a foreign power, profound.
Though we have come a long way since then,
We have solemnly vowed to ourselves,
To never forget those moments of our ancestors’
humiliation and pain.
Hence, our unity would always,
Be the alpha and the omega of our quintessential sanctity.
A unity that has managed to portray
a unique collage of diversity.
So let our nation bask in the glory of her freedom
under our steadfast vigilance,
Marking the seventy-ninth year of her unchallenged
independence.
