Upon the hill the eagle rests
amidst the Summer corn
and he prays for rain to wet the fields
so dreams will there be borne
for he sees them cast by human hand
where love has turned to dust
and he looks upon the children’s cries
and keeps them close, he must
and he holds his head and wonders why
the battle’s never won
for all are heaven’s golden fields
and all are heaven’s sons
and all are washed with heaven’s rain
until the dream is done…
And the wind it whispers to the tree
where dreamers come to pray
that love is all and all is love
and all men step this way
and Jesus walked upon this land
where eagles fill the skies
and sat amongst the fields of corn
to sing God’s lullabies
and the eagle knows the dream he cast
and shelters from the Sun
another day to sow the seed
until the dream is done
and he prays for rain to wet the fields
until the dream is done…
And upon the hill the eagle rests
and all of life he sees
and the wind it whispers to the tree
‘only love and the wind are free’…
MGpoetry…
My heart was lost in pearls of joy
when the Sun began to rise
and I looked upon your light filled skin
and saw beauty in your eyes
and the dream I dreamed was now gone by
for all was clear to see
and a bird was singing in my soul
when love came over me…
And I couldn’t feel another way
a kiss was in my heart
and I didn’t know the words to say
or when the love did start
like a flower blooms in the open field
so beautiful to see
like a dove that shows the way to
peace
when love came over me…
And the yellowhammer sang his song
and the world was set to free
and the Chaffinch and the pickaloo
sat high amongst the trees
and the beauty of the sycamore
was all my heart could see
and a thousand candles called my name
when love came over me…
A thousand candles called my name
when love came over me…
“When love is in the heart,
the eyes may clearly see”…
If only love could see your eyes
the way they shine tonight
with perfumed lips and Angels smile
you carry heavens light
Oh child of fortune, seek your path
for all must turn to gold
from oceans deep and valleys green
the heavens are your home
and never let your eyelids close
upon the promised land
for love is swollen in your heart
someday to understand
and see, the moon is waiting there
to talk with you at night
and count the stars upon the hill
where nightjars catch the light
and seek upon the journey’s end
to make believe your dreams
with pockets full of wanderlust
and apple blossom fields
If only love could see your eyes
then love would sing so free
If only love could see your eyes
then love would be with me…
I am the Tailor’s face and hands
and the weaving of the cloth
the silence of the humming bird
and the secrets of the moth
the hindsight of the spitting Snake
who strikes when all is lost
and the homeless and the heartland
and the love that counts the cost…
I am the dream that dreamers dream
to save another day
the tender words of honesty
that lovers never say
the wind across the water
and the candle in the Mosque
the pity for the beggar man
and the love that counts the cost…
I am the wounded lonely Soul
who peeps into the light
the one who rocks your dreams to sleep
in the hot and humid night
the Devil with the Angels eyes
and the Christ upon the cross
the wind that speaks eternally
and the love that counts the cost
and the love that counts the cost…
