Waiting

.
Waiting…
Waiting on you
Jesus,
Waiting on you
Waiting all this long:
Waiting
Like the eagle in the season
Of renewing feather
And strength
Waiting
Like the mansion whose roofing,
Too long-delayed
Structure now season with
The salts of
The ravaging sun and the damping rain…
Waiting
Like the termite on its
Wing with prayers,
For the dry season, lengthen in
Coming
Lord of my life…
The daily coming of morning,
I now see,
As the monsoon wind carrying
Only
A feverish killing presence
The noontime,
Often harsh on me
Like burnt
On a stretched outback…
Evening
Is treating me like a lonely tree,
Unattractive
To the homecoming birds
O God,
When life is short,
Waiting
Become shadow of nightfall,
Spreading
Sinister around a weightless soul,
A lonely heart…
Lord of my sufficiency…
Open the gate onto this red-eyed lion
Hungry for prey;
Renew speedily, the wings of the eagle,
In thirst of soaring onto the highest mountain;
Strengthen the wobbling feet of the Carmel,
Wanting to journey through the longest of
Desert.
Oh God on high..
Waiting, my soul is waiting
Like the eagle for
The fullness of renewing strength and feather
WAITING
For I know:
A mercy- drop, out of your
Heart-in-compassion,
Could spring-forth ocean of
Enduring laughter,
Too deep for a lifetime’s tears
Of joy…
Waiting on you
Merciful, unfailing, ever faithful,
Sweetly Redeemer:
Waiting on you
.
