Birth of Love’s Memories

.

Sitting alone with memories whispering in the silence, soft
Echoes of footsteps; faint echoes of laughter;
Fragrant echoes of Roses, fading
In the afterglow of twilight’s receding –
Beloved faces and forms waiting to be recalled
As the eternal moon and stars rise
To greet moments remembered, written
By the heartbeats of love’s splendor, long past
The shadows of midnight’s recalling.
Wait for me once more, eyes alight with greeting,
Mouth pursed with a thousand kisses,
Arms throbbing with longing to close around me
As night encases the love-light in your eyes.
Memories fade from the mind; but
The soul never forgets a love born
From the endless corridors of LIGHT.

Twilight Reckoning

Twilight crawls like a sleepy baby from the sky.
Shadows gather like gossiping old women
Whispering across backyard fences.
Out of the congregation of darkness
The bell tower of nightstands mute.
A vanishing train whistles in the distance
Connecting the lonely by their quiet tears.
Loneliness eats a lavish banquet of heartaches,
Disavowing the existence of dignity in misery.
I hug sweet secrets aloof from the heavens –
A name; a face and form that sets me apart
In the soul of the night where your love
Shields me from the emptiness lurking
In the hierarchy of foreverafterness.
With your voice, the breeze whispers softly
“Annie; Annie; Annie; Annie, my love.”
