Poetry for Peace: Arundhati Mukherjee

Arundhati Mukherjee

Love leads to Peace

Gaza pummeled by airstrikes,
in revenge rocket attacks soared to sky,
blood oozed here, blood oozed there.
What was the colour of the blood, dear?

Does the colour of blood disclose your religion?
does it declare your nation and intention?
does it define your culture, your background?
all you can answer is bodies become dust and buried in the ground.

Dear all colour of blood was red here, red there.
The sky you share is blue here, blue there.
The earth you share is brown and green here as well as there.
The smile on children faces innocent here innocent there.

What for you fight when your days are counted,
what for you fight when the rain comes to all as granted?
what for you killed when nature gave you a heart to love?
what for you quarrel and lose your Peace of mind when the creator has created with love from above?

Dear all, revenge is not the answer,
believe me, give your hand of forgiveness as answer.
See the wonder in the act of forgiveness,
which is mercy and grace from above and give calmness.
you are all children of the one creator,
embrace each other as you are all brothers.

If you want to fight, fight with the coronavirus,
if you want to fight, fight against hatred so serious,
fight with your minds virus which attacks,
makes you from human to inhuman and hack.
Hack your brain and hearts computer,
free it from virus and rejoice together.

Dear all live and let live; all hatred will cease,
love with all your heart as love leads to Peace.
