Daily Selected Poems : Lyn Ramos V Alfonso

Nothing in the World is Single

.
Nothing in the world is single
Even the flowers and the bees.
Man cannot live alone
He needs a woman to go along
As stewards of creation.
A flower needs another flower
For pollination to prosper
The bees and butterflies
In a kissing spree
Serve their purpose in procreation.
It’s God’s love that man did not live alone
He gave him a wife to be his own
Decreed that they’d be in loving union
To mingle as one in body and soul.
Then why can’t we live loving each other
In complete obeisance to our God’s commandments?

Holding On

.
I may have been suffering for long
For the emptiness within me
I was blinded by loneliness
And embraced nothingness.
I have lost my inspiration
My desires and ambition
The world has crumbled
I’m alone in my self-cage.
But I managed to hold on
Hold on to my faith in God
I know there’s a reason
For all the things that happened.
Now, I wish I could stand again
To pursue my dreams in life
I wish I could mend what’s broken
So I can be whole again.
I wish I can be whole again
So I could free myself from this cage
So I could walk through the light
The light of hope that would guide me.

Save The Earth

.
Tilted in its imaginary axis,
Our beautiful planet earth rotates,
Dividing our days for time to work
And time to rest, prepare for another day.
In its wonderful position from the sun
It completes a revolution in twelve months,
Giving us the wonderful seasons of the year.
All living creatures rejoice in its splendor.
Truly, God created the Earth to be our home,
The only planet where living creatures can bloom.
It’s created in perfect splendor of Nature,
Fully equipped with our lives necessitudes.
The perfect atmosphere giving us oxygen to breathe,
The perfect pressure allowing us to stay foot on Earth,
The vegetation and greeneries, Nature’s food factories,
And the blessings of rain and flowing waters,
What else can we ask for from the Lord?
But we humans became so arrogant.
We keep inventing technologies for our enjoyment,
But we forget to maintain balance in our environment.
Now we endangered our planet with our negligence.
And we keep searching for another planet to live on,
Exploring Venus and Mars for possible life’s existence,
Dreaming of creating a settlement on the moon,
Though it would mean a journey of no return.
But all these are draining our own resources,
Continuously posing danger to the Earth’s atmosphere.
Can’t we just be grateful for the planet we have?
Can’t we conserve its resources to extend its lifeline?
Listen to this call, O Earth’s inhabitants!
It’s time to save the only planet we have,
For our own sake and for the future generation,
Or together we’ll advance to the grave of extinction!

Self Introspection

Everyday in our lives, we deal with people around us
Either we are affected by their indifference
Or it’s we who unconsciously hurt them with our actions
Through the process of self-introspection
Let’s be like the melting snow
Washing itself of itself
Listen to the whisper of our hearts
Wash away all the dirt of negativity and pride
And let the ever goodness of our hearts rule our minds
So we can be the better version of ourselves.

The Universe

Each time I look up at the sky,
I wonder at the stars and constellations above.
I knew that the universe is boundless,
And its beauty is so splendid.
How it came to existence is unfathomable.
See the heavenly bodies,
The solar system and the galaxies,
They move freely in complete harmony,
Mysteriously organized,
Moving for the benefit of each other.
It’s a vast universe, infinitely vast universe.
Our planet is just a tiny dot within,
And I am a speck of dust in it.
How would they know that I exist?

If there’s no tomorrow

Live today as if there’s no tomorrow
For tomorrow is just a moment to furrow.
We retire with so much yearnings
Wake up to see it leaving
The moment we open our eyes
We’ll be in an eternal “now” to view.
If there’s no tomorrow,
Let’s give our best today
Share love and compassion to everyone
Say the words that had been left unsaid for long
Forgive and forget those who made you forlorn
Make every moment count
And create joyful memories
That will last forever.
