Poetry by Richard Doiron

The Song Of Love

In this world of mine, there are stars that shine
and that fill the skies above,
and it’s good and clear such an atmosphere
is the looming light of love.
In the big and wide it’s on every side
and it’s calling you by name,
but to look and see how it’s meant to be
and to factor in that flame.
In the scheme of things, there’s a chorus sings
with a voice that’s mighty strong,
and it spells it out (as to leave no doubt),
you’re included in that song.

An Angel Heard

The concert hall was filled with folk
who travelled far to hear him sing –
such feelings felt he could evoke -:
the robin sang and it was spring.
The cares that were hard to bear
and so they came from miles around –
to each of them an answered prayer –
the stuff of soul – such sacred sound.
He was no saint, but oh! the voice –
An angel heard in every song! –
a troubled lot that would rejoice
and go from there revived – and strong.
